Cambodia: from clean water to dignified homes
As part of the 13 Houses Jubilee Project, the water purification initiative builds on efforts to improve housing conditions for twenty vulnerable families. With housing support in place, the next step was to address another essential element of a dignified life: access to safe drinking water.
Poor water quality contributes to illness, indebtedness, and barriers to education, making it harder for families to build a secure future. Through a newly installed purification system at the village primary school, the project, led by the Daughters of Charity, is now providing safe drinking water to approximately 150 schoolchildren and many vulnerable families. By reducing waterborne diseases and easing the financial burden associated with poor health, the initiative strengthens household resilience and supports the wider community. Through this holistic approach, the 13 Houses Jubilee Project is helping transform houses into true homes where dignity, health, and hope can flourish.
India: a double celebration of new beginnings
Easter 2026 brought a special moment of hope for the 13 Houses Project in southern India. The new home for Rajiv and his family, migrant workers who had long struggled with insecure housing, was completed and blessed on Easter Day. The celebration was made even more meaningful by the baptism of their young son. The project continues to move forward with the construction of a second house for another family. Despite seasonal rains slowing progress, the structure has been completed, and finishing works, including flooring, plumbing, electrification, and painting, are well underway. Led by the Vincentian Fathers in India, these homes are transforming lives by providing vulnerable families with the security of a place they can finally call their own.
