Ada Ferreira, the volunteer ambassador from Brazil, has not missed a chance to encourage Vincentians in her country to join the Alliance and the “13 Houses” Campaign. Our ambassadors work in their communities and within existing Vincentian Family structures to encourage engagement and help those serving our homeless neighbours.
XV National Meeting of the Vincentian Family
From June 20th to 23rd we had our National Meeting with representatives of the Congregation of the Mission, the Daughters of Charity, the AIC, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP), the Brother of Mercy and Gjizgem Sisters. I started my speech talking about systemic change and the collaborative action. Then I presented the “13 Houses” Campaign, that was very well received by the attendants. Latter, we worked in groups, where we studied the Campaign brochure and we focused on how to encourage Vincentians to join and on to find potential collaborators. At the end, each branch took brochures to share with their grassroots members.
SSVP National Plenary
At the beginning of August the SSVP celebrated it National Plenary in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, where the National Council members and representatives of 36 Metropolitan Councils came together. I had the chance to present again the “13 Houses” Campaign and to share the material with each Council. They took brochures, action plans and a letter signed by me and the National Council President to share among their members. It was a very important moment to solve doubts and to share information about possible works for the future.
VI Vincentian Revival Meeting
On August 4th took place the VI Vincentina Revival Meeting, organised by the Jundaí Metropolitan Council in Valinhos, Sao Paulo. The event took place in the studios of the catholic TV station Rede Século XXI and it was broadcasted live. I intervened on behalf of the Vincentian Family National Council about systemic change and the “13 Houses Campaign”. There were 2500 attendant and the show had an extensive audience.
